  1. Lanyard, spare biner that I attach friction saver with, spring clip, type biner to clip saw up with, that's hanging from a short Elderid sling. Simple.
  2. Lovely pruning as usual Matty.
  3. I don't suppose Arb type climbing counts as hours experience?
  4. Yeah Gerry, I have that picture in my mind of you one handing the saw in the Rockport tree pics. Fecking hardcore.
  5. Bob, off topic but have you got IRATA one and two?
  6. Big tree tight spot there Butch, nice. Jason, nice work, you in Victoria? Looks lovely.

  9. Back in the day. Ha,ha,ha.
  10. I don't consider it that much, to let it concern me.
  11. I try to keep both hands on the saw.
  12. I only ever one- hand my climbing saw when I need to scratch my arse.
  13. Well Alex, interesting criticisms, although the fact that I was climbing a badly split tree in very high wind seem to have escaped your scrutiny. It was'nt a tree I was felling it was the last chunk of the tree, maybe three foot length. Why did I not use spikes on the final cut? The tree had to retained at that height, if I had worn spikes they,(the spikes) would have damaged the bark, something that you, I'm sure, would have immediately picked up on. Anyway, I was standing on some HSE approved beer crates. Leave the stubs at least two feet long? Who recommends that? Understand me Alex, that cambium saver was not going anywhere, I know this because it told me. Thanks for the compliments on my cuts, it means so much.
  14. If anybody is ever down in Wiltshire there is a stunning Black Walnut in the grounds of this place, as well as some other fantastic trees. http://www.corsham-court.co.uk/
  15. Good post as usual Andy.
  16. Simple and effective. I tend to just use a sling with a choker hitch.
  17. Is that a Butterfly knot used as the attachment back to the main line? I have never done this.
  18. I agree but also a good way to get to trust your gear is to fall off the odd branch, have a swing and realize your OK and your climbing gear is very strong.
  19. Yeah, put a bolt through it if it's possible with that grab, but I think that grab may be able to be locked off anyway?
  20. American Black Walnut?
  21. I tried a soft link on my wire core lanyard but didn't get on with it, I just have a twisted clevis and a krab.
  22. Well, it was ok for me, if you want a job you just gotta keep calling people, every week. I will ask around, how many days are you looking for?
  23. I thought you would like it, the old lady who's house is behind the tree was complaining about the conkers dropping in her garden, so, I discussed with the Deputy Tree Officer about fitting individual Cobra, like slings on each conker to prevent them free falling from the tree, the trouble with doing that, apart from the vast cost to the local population through increased poll tax duties, would be the actual interruption of the natural processes of the tree shedding it's conkers, I mean, it's meant to happen isn't it? What would/could the outcome be?
  24. OK, didn't get a before pic but took these after pics of a light weight reduction done by Danners and myself today, Horse chestnuts lend themselves to this kind of work, until they start regrowing, then they look ****. Some, from overseas criticize this kind of work seeing it as pointless and a waste of time. Ho, hum, pass the beer:beerglass:
  25. Good luck treemeup, I am also based in the Bristol area as a freelance climber.
