  1. I looked at the site plan and Treeworker are listed mate
  2. nick, shoot a vid, a good vid, put some photos together too, start a separate thread, show your work and skills, your own work not anyone else's. It may not get you abroad, it may get you something somewhere though. You say you want to work abroad, but have you tried travelling around this country building your experience and client base? Try not to be blinkered, keep an open mind and make it happen.
  3. Aah the old Eastwoods Mog, sweet ain't she? Did some miles in that beauty
  4. It's not just Stihl or Husky, it's certainly other dealerships too. I've even been told that with certain machines it's not worthwhile making theft too difficult as the insurance replacement Market is just so big and profitable to the dealers that they wouldn't participate in such a recording scheme. Crime doesn't pay? I think it does. All the way through the system.
  5. RMF, look again in two or three years time, and I think it'll blend in just right, everything is shiny shiny and clean right now. I think I would have liked to see the wheels utilised in the design though, somewhere, unless I missed them.
  6. That's very nice work
  7. Run your fingers over it gently, if they get burnt you know its hot...simples
  8. Hey don't beat yourself up over it, we all have bad times, times when the job is crap, or life is just dishing out a pile of poo for us to deal with. You are only human. You need some of Silky Foxs enthusiasm, it's contagious, actually hire Him in for the day, it'll boost you no end. Oh and you were out of order, but there you go apology accepted, life goes on.
  9. Ok ThAnks for the replies, and the pm's. I'm sorted for the day I had in mind now. Next time I expect better, like the telepathic skills actually saving me the trouble of posting, i mean, you knew what I wanted anyway, so why make me do all the leg work. I dunno people today just want everything handed to them on a plate
  10. It's funny, Arbtalk has always been open to free speech, and also is run by real tree cutting people, not corporate businessmen or wannabe weekend tree hacks who don't have a clue about the real world. I also think we have some of the best in the trade on this forum, people who are willing to share their knowledge to help others, not put them all down and act superior towards them. That can be found to be equally offensive. This is what makes it the best tree forum in the UK and maybe Europe too.
  11. Mind readers only need apply, cos you'll know what I want. Pm me, but you knew that.
  12. Perhaps the age thing is a little bit out, but some climbers work really hard at getting faster and faster and better and better, then it all slows down, the aches hurt more, the muscles strain easier, the knees knock, and the lungs rattle. It's a tired, clapped out motor that you're willing to get you home every day, till retirement or Tescos trolley wally job comes up
  13. I think the really good climbers get faster and faster, reach a peak of skill and speed combined, then pick up injuries, get older and slower and more bitter that someone else is making money from their sweat and then they think, hey know what? I can run a business cos I'm such a good climber...well guess what...few can.
  14. I want to see something new, something innovative perhaps, something that stands out from the rest. Go on tempt me with your wares (not Plippy in a mankini either!!)
  15. Thank god for that, I hate that term
  16. Same here, and yes it was tough at times, but then life ain't easy anyway. It's not just a decent climber, but any decent worker can by running his own crew.
  17. Blimey, switch on the smug mode
  18. I have a Clansmn PRC351, and on the same frequencies an ex Water Board rig, fraction of the price of the Clansman, delivers more bang for the buck, more frequency choice, digital programming and or computer programmable, seriously far better than the Forces offering, sorry to say. But obviously the needs of the military are different, for example you need to be able to change freqs with numb hands and so on, KISS and all that.
  19. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but isnt it actually 2 donkeys?
  20. How are you getting on with the Arborist apps developed by Arbtalk. They've been out quite a while now, so what do you think? I've noticed a fairly positive feedback so far, from most people. If you haven't seen them, and you're going to the APF, I can demo them on the iPad for you to "try before you buy" Have you left feedback for them at your App store? If not it is useful to guide others and help them decide whether to buy one or both. Do you have a preference, which do you use most if you have both? If you have had any problems, have you reported through the correct channels so the problems can be rectified? Do you find them user friendly, can you navigate them easily? Feedback is so important to the team as it helps to eliminate any glitches, improve on things and move them forward, and most importantly we want you to be happy with your purchase(s). Moaning to your mates in the truck doesn't count as feedback, we need to hear it too.
  21. Silky does Mick Stockbridge
  22. This thread is now self-perpetuating, it's like a rolling stone gathering moss and stuff on the way down a hill, building and building on it own now. Come on Silky, you can't just not travel now, you've started now you've got an audience to keep happy. Silky does Suffolk, Silky does Twyford, Silky does Kent, Silky does New York next?
  23. Thing is it isn't the radio set that's the issue, it's the frequencies you use that make the difference. Ex Police Motorolas have a range of around 3-4 miles on UHF, or in dense trees, I've had about 2 miles between operators max. Now using VHF will improve this considerably, well I've found it improved considerably. Cheap PMRs will not punch their way out of a paper bag, they don't have the power, you need commercial to have the ooomph, my handhelds run 5 watts PEP as standards, instead of about 100mWatt, and the mobile set is on low power at 25watts, going up to 50watts max. Running full power from here would make me readable over tens of miles, equivalen to the needs of taxi companies, obviously I do not need to run full power so I don't use it unnecessarily.
  24. A clause such as "bringing the company name into disrepute" usually covers such a scenario. So "moonlighting" in a company shirt could be classed as above, as you're representing that company if you wear their shirt. What I particularly like to see is someone else's staff moonlighting in company time, in their company clothing, and the truck all nicely sign written, then leaving a trail of messy work, makes us little companies look much better. Must get them a bottle of wine next time I go to their offices:thumbup:
