  1. He's a good man, a true leader, leads from the front, by example. Truly a tough act to follow. Good man steve:thumbup1:
  2. Fidel Bullman?
  3. Dont forget the diesel and the 4 tyres too:laugh1:
  4. So you cant get a fire going with oodles of dead wood and lots of nice flammable ivy, 4 tyres and diesel.......... did you remember to strike the match?
  5. Tbh the only reason I looked that far ahead is I have tree work along a road, and was just trying to plan ahead. In the winter this particular road is an accident blackspot, mainly due to black ice readily forming. I do appreciate for thse who have borne the brunt of the heavy snowfall already here that more snow is possibly the last thing they want to hear, or think about.
  6. Just checked out the forecast for the week leading up to Christmas, looks like snow is forecast from the 22nd onwards, with daytime highs nudging a sweltering +2degC. So maybe, just maybe a white xmas will be on the cards this year. Unless Peckerwoo comes along and bursts my bubble:001_smile:
  7. Spot on advice Mike, keep yourself in the front of peoples minds.
  8. Nice vid of James and his machine there John I love those pics, in particular the 1st of each group. I think they'd make cracking Xmas cards, even without your robin in them! Better than those blurry old pics the other day
  9. I hate to knock a product, but these were probably the worst trousers I have ever had in my life! The side pocket, (large one on the leg) wore through with the weight of a wound dressing. The left leg fell apart across the back of the thigh, and I didnt catch it on anything. The crotch went, and I wear belt and braces. The front fabric saw some brambles in the distance and promptly went into shock and fell apart. They lasted approximately 3 months in total, and at the end of 3 months they werent suitable for a tramp to be seen out in. Poor quality, poor show Oregon, I would give 1/10 to be fair, but I feel thats too generous a mark. Sorry Oregon:thumbdown:
  10. Thats a little different then, thanks for clarifying:thumbup1: Talking of sick pay, the last company I was employed by, paid sick days Tues,Wed and Thurs only, as Mondays and Fridays always seemed to be the skivers way of making a longer weekend, it certainly sorted the wheat from the chaff, and short term sickies virtually stopped over night.
  11. Up to 10 paid days off on top of holidays and sick days x5 staff? Wow, that must take some sticking financially. I have worked for companies that could have afforded this price-wise, but in reality it just wouldnt happen.
  12. The Jonsered I had (old 2094) was incredible, it just went on and on, and I sold it for more than I paid for it. It had plenty of grunt, and many Husky parts will fit if needed (EM group)
  13. Try and be sympathetic towards your boss. If one of you were to have an accident, either with a saw, when climbing, or simply driving to the site, he would have a whole world of criticism and explaining to do. HSE would be over him like a rash, the police would be trying to prosecute and worse case scenario he has to pop around to someone relatives and break the worst kind of news. This is without the expense of damaged kit, vehicles and chippers. Its a tough one to call, he doesnt enjoy losing money, losing time etc, but he has to evaluate the risks too. We're rarely down for long due to weather, so just try to enjoy the time off.
  14. I dont think its a pointless thread at all, apart from the fact that I would have either in a flash, I cant really differentiate or choose between the two. Sorry TCD, dunno when the 661 is out. With either of these saws I dont think the manufacturer is important, both top quality.
  15. Last year I bought some little hotties, they slip in your gloves or on your socks, keep warm for up to 12hours. I hardly use them, but a mate who has white-finger swears by them.
  16. I have the 660 and love it, but equally I love the 395 and if there were a choice....... I honestly dunno Ad. Tough one to call.
  17. I also run a 13'' bar on 346xp, and its probably (at present) my most productive saw
  18. Nothing wrong with youthful exuberance, but its no comparison for maturity, as you now know:biggrin:
  19. Welcome to the madness Ballibeg.
  20. You have to bear in mind that everyones mind is on more serious matters, how they're getting through the snow, how they're going to pay for Xmas pressies, how they're going to meet the bills and so on. So the last thing on their minds is whether or not to have that tree trimmed right now. It'll pick up in the new year....eventually.
  21. Dont forget this cold weather will knock down the efficiency of batteries too. Personally, I would trickle charge batteries on vehicles and trailers if they are out of use for a few days too.
  22. How do you determine "too cold"? Is there a fixed temperature cut-off point? "Too dangerous"? What is too dangerous for one may be safe for another. How do you assess and make the call? You say the less experienced staff will work on, but surely this is the last thing you need?
  23. Its cool, just have to keep an eye on these things so they dont blow up in our faces
  24. And Steve Bullman has kindly donated many hours of his time to get this up and running yet again. Cheers on behalf of all of us.
