  1. Haha, just had a text from a friend saying the brigade had just come out to tell him to put his fire out or they would. The fire was a little on the large side!! This was about 7pm.
  2. He used CTS camera for full effect:biggrin:
  3. Dropped my Blackberry in an Otterbox about 40feet onto a brickwall, it just laughed and bit the legs off a passing Rottweiler Worth having!
  4. And without money coming in our whole trade ceases to be.
  5. The problem is that its the public's money being spent on tree work, and in these ever-tightening times they want to see what they perceive to be value for money. In Rich's fine example, Joe Public wouldnt be able to tell what the money has been spent on. Whereas a 40% reduction is clear to all how much has been done. How do we educate the public better? And do they care, its still going to drop leaves in their gutters, on their lawns, trees to many are a nuisance....til they're gone.
  6.
  7. I knew that. Didnt want a Landy one in case it leaked:001_tt2:
  8. I have the JCB as an emergency phone, in my side pocket all the time, the BB stays in a safe place to check at breaks.
  9. Beautiful Martin, a feat of engineering. Very nice...
  10. Average size was up to 60cm for bulk of the work, then we had to hand fell the timber 60cm-5foot dbh (harvester did the 60cm and less)
  11. Tenner for the bowl to kick things off
  12. We just paid 15per tonne standing on the last site, predominantly sycamore, the few large windblow we cleared for the timber (big beech, ash, syccie, robinia) Some FC sites are looking for as much as 55pertonne standing (beech), but for the work involved in clearing windblown, I wouldnt be buying it!
  13. Good excuse to bid on my wooden clock later on in the auction then
  14. Must say, I got a 65m length of Portland braid and I prefer that most days.
  15. This thread is a fine example of how the general public find us, see how we portray ourselves. This job is not just about pruning a tree beautifully, cleaning up well and taking care of the property around you, by posting here you are in the public eye 24/7.
  16. Double Esterlon here too
  17. In Milton Keynes, just wondering if this is worthy of a visit? Apparently the "Cathedral" is based on the floor-plan of the Norwich Cathedral, the pics of it look good. Anyone been? http://www.theparkstrust.com/parks-trust/DisplayArticle.asp?ID=33114
  18. I do hope Chris aint doing them, for your sakes
  19. Just to balance that statement, Clarks also offer an equally exceptional service, as do Honeys, I cant speak for Gustharts as I havent used them. From my experience, the dealers who have put the time in here certainly benefit from our custom, and long may they prosper!
  20. Tommer, I'd have thought the larger model would be ideal, though I havent used one. The only reason i have the short one is its more convenient to carry in a hammer loop on my belt in the woods.
  21. I use mine mainly for handling 1st thinnings cord, stick it in the end and drag the pole to the pile, or hook into the length of the pole to lift it into position on the pile. To pick logs up without bending the back or legs so much, To tap in small wedges etc etc.
  22. I use the ones that Clarks sell (Sappies and Log Picks | Clark Forest : Forestry Tools), its also useful for moving cordwood, and the flat back of the head is handy for tapping in small wedges. I cant get on with the oregon model, it jasnt got any weight to it, and it doesnt stick in the wood and "hold"
  23. Totally agree with your post, can you just clarify your connection with the business, if you dont mind? Just being inquisitive really, no need if you dont wish to.
  24. I can only echo Steves' words here, thank you for visiting the website and taking the time to clarify things, it cant have been at all easy for you. All the best to all immediately concerned. Best wishes, Andy.
  25. As I said in the Gen Tree Pics, that 2nd pic would make a good logo for a certain Arb website, if only I could remember its site address......
