  1. I do still wonder how many who've signed up would stick to their guns when it comes down to the nitty-gritty, good old-fashioned hard-earned cash for felling? I mean, we have families to feed, clothe, etc bills dont pay themselves. Its fine to take the moral high-ground, but to the point of going cold and hungry, I will not. So I wont sign still.
  2. I will not ban you for holding a very valid opinion, I respect it, just respect my reasons for not signing
  3. Of course I still eat cod, and sit on tropical wood furniture, cods very tasty and there's loads of it in the sea isnt there? And my teak chair is just beautiful to look at
  4. I'm not saying you and others who agree with your opinions shouldnt sign up and do what you think is right. But I cannot sign up for something that I know in my heart I would go in and cut down. Huffing and puffing out your chest in exasperation will not make me lie.
  5. Your bang on right Tony, but I'm being honest with where I would stand, why sign up to something you know deep down that if given the work you would do it?
  6. So hypothetically speaking, how many of you who support this and have added your signatures would turn down the work if you were approached to do it? We are, at the end of the day, paid to do this job, and some aspects are less savoury than others. Personally speaking, hand on heart, I could not say I wouldnt do the job if asked, therefore I cannot be hypocritical and sign up.
  7. A generous re-settlement package usually works, maybe a prod with a big stick here and there:thumbup1:
  8. Having removed the top (to let out the bugs ) the MJ then lifts the butt gently into place on the forwarder (too big for the forwarder crane to lift) so any remaining little bugs dont get too upset by the move We have also given them each a nice little re-homing package to help smooth their transition:thumbup1:
  9. Here's another nice little pic showing our caring side. The dead butt is carefully and gently felled, and the top sliced open to allow all the little bugs and centipedes and spiders to leave and find a new home before committing it to the firewood stack.
  10. The old MJ lifting out some nasty dangerous insect infested, dead Oak. Some may cry at the sight of this, but all I can say to that is.... Man Up!!
  11. Oh thats such a shame Penfold, perhaps we can stick up loads of pics of us having a good time in your absence
  12. Plippy's idea of security is farting in a sleeping bag and giggling like a girlie
  13. Oh you're such a sweetie Ian
  14. Yes Ian thats very fetching I take it you have one with MANLOVE detailed across the back for your Gaypride marches
  15. The one gripe I have with hi-viz is the fact that yellow attracts flies and mini-beasts like a plague. Is orange less attractive to them...does anyone know or even care?
  16. Couple of weeks ago we were working in the woods and I suddenly spied a truck through the other side. The man proceeded to get a shiny new trio-braked husky out of the back, fuel it up so he could "help himself" to a few logs. I called my colleague and we legged it over to him to see what the hell he thought he was doing. Now I dont know if he was just caught off-guard, embarrassed to be caught, or a little perturbed by the sight of 2 very annoyed cutters with logpicks in their hands, but I think he got the message that his presence wasnt welcome.
  17. See you tried English and failed
  18. Too old at 44 All the best, hope you find something on here
  19. x5 actually Tony, dont want all those pesky bats getting in there and slowing down proceedings now do we . We did leave 2 "condemned" trees, the one with the large burr, and one other dead standing pollard.
  20. Some gratuitous shots of the day today, 1st one is the drive raked and blown clean and its only about 1/2mile long!! Last pic is of a scrubby litte Oak growing out of the moat wall, and a cheeky little fern taking advantage of it
  21. Clearing up deadwood, the easy way! The 2-ways make coordination in the team so much easier, certainly a stress-free way, and make for better efficiency.... the job flows so fluidly now.
  22. Thanks all for yur help, and thanks Kernowstu in particular, top man:thumbup:
  23. What he said, IGNORE THEM!!
