  1. The origonal "old spice" - golden brown by the stranglers [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIHBUGvAUMo&feature=related[/ame]
  2. here's another game for those who have the time to spend http://www.bass10.com/flash-games/puzzle-games/bloxorz-puzzle-game/
  3. Your a kind man
  4. Surley we have to be both? My lack of buissness knowledge and experiance have presented with me with my greatest challenge. It is only through my learning of these skills, and guidance ( thanks- you know who you are) that my small biz now stands a chance of achieving, rather than limping through. Each skill, without the other puts you at a distinct disadvantage.
  5. Unfortunatley the weather did not hold, the wind shut us down early on tues, after being borderline for a couple of hours. The last pick was at about 6.45pm yesterday in the wind and rain. Tim - step cuts on the verticle sections, i'd be tempted to use a single cut next time as it would perhaps make seperation smoother
  6. It was slung with chains, I switched to slings on the 2nd day which i found more managable. The biggest lift was a 5.3 ton stem, i think the biggest top was a little under 2.5.
  7. A few pics fom this weeks job, working for big-amer (Nigel). My first crane job and i loved it. the job was 5 hybrid100ft plus poplars to fell in 2 days. The learning curve was steep, and my adrenal gland worked overtime on ocassions, especially when the wind picked up. We had a 50ton crane the first day and a 60 the 2nd, so plenty of lift and the limiting size to the picks tended to be the size of my kahunas:scared1: More pics to follow......................
  8. Have a cool day Iain - hope you did'nt work too hard!
  9. I work with trees- plant them, prune them and kill them. What more can i say?
  10. On more complex jobs i always go back home and think before submitting a quote. It's too vital to be rushed or feel pressured into delivering it before you have formulated it. Take your time and be thorough
  11. Great vid Tim. Smooth work and a pleasure to watch
  12. I'd try a few things if i were you before you part with your money. The APF would be a good opertunity to have some hands on time with rope kit etc. Patience is definatley required, a couple of days is never enough time
  13. And a lifetime pruning palm tree when you get there:001_tongue:
  14. Running a buisnees can be amazingly stressfull. Quoting, paperwork, logistics and balancing the books, chasing debts- it drives me to the point of crisis and insanity. Then I actually get to the job, put my kit on and climb. The stress - even of the worst trees just melts away- to use a clique - "I live to climb and climb to live"
  15. Just glad i didn't have to use the piece of crap lol:001_tongue:
  16. Tight quaters for sure. Bob blocked the stem down into a miniscule drop zone i lost the t shirt shortly after that pic- i hate climbing in short sleeves
  17. todays td ash in a grave yard. Good but hard day, working with grumpy bob and his even grumpier groundie! (better not have taught my groundie and bad habits!!!! ) Loads of targets but smooth job
  18. Pantin on the right foot- always a way:001_smile:
  19. I would have done similar, as the introduction of rot into the base/rootball of the tree would bring down a rapid demise, the consequences of which in such a cramped enviroment could be dire. I would recomend the monitoring of the stem also I would have taken it to a bit above head height though, to allow easy managment of the re-growth and allow more light into the garden (which is usually an issue for most home owners).
  20. I pay £60 per day for a subbie groundie with all his tickets including rescue. He's young but able and i think for a beginner it's fair. Another more experianced guy i pay £90. Both on the money for this area
  21. i'd drive up to your place anyday to watch you tell you crew they are having to pay you for the priveledge
  22. I would. I'm not saying deffinatley though, as the assesment for me is tactile and visual
  23. Nah just shoot the bloke who will not cut enough of them off to keep the customer satisfied
  24. Always say that to start with
  25. Dean can afford to drop them!
