    I have heard some positive things about that device, although I have never seen one in person - it was developed jointly by the inventors of the unicender and the akimbo, quite a pedigree

    Great story and how treework was done . I am not ashamed to say I still melt a couple of hundred metres of polyprop every year.

    The safe bloc is a great tool to have in the box. Really shines when you have difficulty accessing the base of the tree to attach a device. Rigging, like most things in tree work, is often limited by our imagination/common sense or lack of.

    If you want a greater freedom of expression and speech I suggest a move to China. Starmer is not a positive for either. I am in no doubt that he will shut anything down that he cannot control

    Poor security on the machines and built in obsolescence all work for the manufacturers. Piss poor border controls mean that they disappear sharpish too. Without a fundamental change in policy towards theft and border security nothing is going to change.

    I have seen quite a few branch failures due to pruning - mainly heavy thinning or lions tailing. It does change how a branch moves and dissipates energy which leads to all sorts of issues. Never really associated deadwooding with failure, thats a good piece of observation

    Clearance not appearance as the utility boys used to say. He actually explains/justifies the retention of the rest of the tree at the end. When I work in the woods we often are asked to leave or create stems for habitat. It’s good practice here in the UK

    It is definitely not for beginners. I have spent today felling ash on quite a steep site and it’s not fun. A few big limbs came flying back at me and the first of these two trees split up to 20ft - real barbers chair. About 18 inches at the stump and cut with a dogs tooth, I could have done nothing different. In contrast, the next tree behaved perfectly

    Do you have to cut a sleeve off your hi-vis hoody and put a couple of eye holes in it, to make a balaclava before you go pricing ? 😂

    Terminology will not help. I talk about stump grinding, not removal. Go to site, have a dig about and see if there is anything left. If not present the option of small claims or payment. Don’t take it personally and explain that they should not if you take them to court - it’s just business

    This is worrying- I run 2 pickups, both double cabs. One dedicated to the business, the other probably used 3 days a week at work and also doubles as our car. Due to where I live, I don’t really have an option other than running 4x4’s. In tandem with all the other cost increases, I am not sure how long running small businesses will be viable

    I had just finished renovating my old house when this place started. Very different crowd now and few of the old members are still here, which is sad in some ways.

    I was onsite years ago when a car was moved. The owner was a real PITA and knew well what he was doing, so one of the lads brought some dollies. The car got pushed 20m up the road and down a back street, where it was turned 90 degrees across the road, in a position impossible to move from.
