  1. Not a fan of the tripod ladders myself. They certainly make for a stable platform but they are more of a pain to transport and not as versatile. Would rather a 3 stage ladder that opens into an a frame
  2. Quite how he didn't hurt himself badly I have no idea
  3. To be fair he didn’t state if the garage had given permission for them to sell the scrap of if they just helped themselves
  4. So call me stoopid, but Is that not an indication that this chipper could be stolen?
  5. I like this idea, as you say though the boss has to live up to his side of the deal
  6. If I saw the person who had done the damage I would make it quite clear that they needed to own up to it, because I sure as hell aren’t going to have suspicion upon me through someone else’s cock up
  7. Good thread Dan I think all the points you mentioned have merits but would be unworkable for the most part for small companies(2-3 men). As a subbie, the only place I have come across incentives has always been in the larger companies Profit share? Not sure how this can be feasible really. It would have to be a yearly thing perhaps, but then who gets the share? There are going to be plenty of occasions where jobs over run, eating into the profit. Tools are broken/lost through carelessness, all coming out of the years profit.....how to fairly decide who breaks the tools and receives less of a profit share? In my experience very very few employees put their hands up with they are responsible for breaking something unless caught in the act............'who put that new dent in the truck'??? all employees shrug their shoulders.
  8. @damian used to post quite a few adverts for Vienna. Might be worth getting in touch with him
  9. Had some blackthorn on the go last night. Burned it on sitemap plenty of times but never inside. Fantastic wood, burns like coal and chucked out some impressive heat
  10. Do they AA have a stance on ladders in tree work @AA Teccie (Paul)
  11. Doubt I would have managed 7 of those trees even in my prime. That’s a lot of work in those circumstances
  12. Well I assume you can climb to a reasonable standard? The only way to get experience in reductions is by doing it. They look reasonably straight forward when it comes to shaping. Its simply a case of getting a nice high anchor point, choosing a groundy with a half decent eye for shape, and cracking on. Or better still, bring in a freelancer to carry out the works, get the job done and learn from him at the same time
  13. http://learnwithrich.co.uk/trailer-training-gwynedd/
  14. There were few devices available when this was published
  15. Never timed it, not sure how you reliably could really, so many variables such as timber size, how much pressure you apply(shouldn’t be any). i generally get a full days work from 2 batteries though with the type of work I use it for
  16. power wise I would say about the same actually. Think the 150 is a little lighter? No idea about the temperature question.
