Holes in Ash logs

Was stacking some logs before and noticed there's one particular batch of Ash logs that have holes in the bark and there's loads of little bugs running round on them.

Should I be concerned? If you look carefully on the 2nd picture near the top right hand side you can see the little bugs in question. They aren't in the house or anywhere near it, just wondering if I should get rid of those particular logs

I had the same last year when a customer brought it to my attention. I was pretty concerned but after some research it turned out to be fairly common bug that only appears once a year (thought it was slightly earlier by a month), it is short lived and stays in the bark only. If you put something like ash bark beetle onto a search engine, you will get the information you need, and of course the experts on this forum. I never had the logs back or compensated the customer, although I did offer both.

We had a batch of ash last year that was infested with thousands of ash bark beetles. The windowsills inside the house were covered in the beasties for a few days - literally had to sweep them up.

They're apparently harmless to furniture and joists/etc but if you're delivering some infested ash to a customer, it'd probably be worth explaining the situation to them first...
