All in all you would be better off keeping the windows and plating them on the inside for security.

And qualifies for Annual Investment Allowance as plant & machinery at 100% (if within maximum limits of AIA for that year.  VAT back & AIA is quite an incentive!

Okay, understood, ten miles per hour on some roads with little risk of apprehension if all else is good looking is a small price to pay then.

also fuel, tyres, servicing etc etc

 

Road tax is van rate as well not £600 odd car rate.

Windows is what dictates the speed on a disco. 

 

Not that I believe that, drive a disco commerical for 6 years at car speeds and been past loads of cams. Never had a ticket.

i was being flippent as the windows are the only difference between the car and the 'van'.

I think you will find it is enforced as people get speeding tickets for 50+ in a 60 & 60+ in a 70.

Yes I know it gets enforced but do cameras pick it up or is it from a policeman.  Do you know of any prosecutions of speeding with a 4wd pickup whose unladen weight exceeds 2040kg?

Camera is the most likely way to get caught for most speed offences. Every car gets its plate read, compared to dvla database re speed limit for the road the camera is on. Then speed recorded is checked against the vehicles limit. That's why people are now getting caught, before you had to brake the limit of the road to get caught. I dont know of any over 2040kg specific offences. Its a hard one for most to prove as few have the unladen weight on the v5 and even those that do don't use the same method to calc it.
