Just heard about Navara's snapping in half so thought I'd look in to it...

Not far off the same. I had every other Nav problem but not this one.

I've had 3 (just waiting for my fourth to be delivered), have a few mates with them of various ages/conditions, never seen or heard of one snap (other than internet horror stories). Best trucks out there IMO, been ahead of the competition from day one as a complete all-rounder.

I would imagine that to snap one you have to work it hard, carrying heavy loads off road fro prolonged periods. I think most of the failures have been in Australia which says a lot.

My mates 08 snapped because it was rotten , black crusty and thin as paper at the rear axle area . Local farmer near me had a 2007 with the same problem .

 

The 4x4 breaker in Perth told me he has seen loads broken , so I don't think its an isolated incident . Maybe worse up here due to more winter salt ?

I bought a new one and found a lot of spring in the chassis when towing. I stuck my finger in the chassis and found it paper thin compared to hilux and defender. Had a few niggles with it and sold it at 2 years old never managed to snap it in half.
