Hi all.

I'm looking to start subbying and need to get my own gear. I figure running a medium to large ground saw would cover all based at minimal cost.

I've used my friends MS 440 all day before with no problem, tons of power, it can takle most things and i personally didn't find it too heavy.

I've used stihl forever but I have an echo tophandle and really like it.

Any advice on similar size/power grondsaws equivalent to the 440 but from other manufactures than stihl?

Im open to any saws, but I have to say in that power band im a Stihl man through and through. Ditch the 440 though and get a 461. I have been subbying now for over 10 years and the only saw I use other than my topping saw is the 461...they are flawless.

So for shedding or a chipper saw which one do you use?

This is going to turn into an ms461 thread but yes, also the Ms361 is flawless & versatile too, just not as good in the bigger stuff like the 461

The echos seem OK but they don't feel like they'd put up with the abuse I give my stihls

Husqvarna? Don't bother cos they're poo 💩 ;-)
