Forgot to mention that I would prefer a resin strap since the fabric ones whilst very good, get a little fruity when sweated into!

I have exactly the same watch and same age, but lost the plastic surround about ten years ago. Its still works fine. I've just lashed out a few quid for a resin strap off ebay, should be good for at least another 20 years ...

kahuna are reasonable watches in both build quality and price. I think they do resin straps as well as metal and fabric. mine has lasted 5 years so far, due for a new strap methinks.
