I want to buy an artic load! (Easter Ross)

Hi, I'm new to this so hope I'm in the right forum.

 

I see artic loads of timber going up and down the A9 north of Inverness every day. I want to buy timber with delivery near Tain to process myself for my wood burner. Smaller diameter preferred as it would be going through a tractor mounted reciprocating saw.

 

Who sells and how much should I pay?

How about approaching the local forest managers in your area? Perhaps Scottish Woodlands, Tillhill, Bell Ingram?

Scottish Woodlands are apparently "having a word" with someone in that department but haven't got back to me yet.

 

Tilhill and Bell Ingram are good suggestions and I'll try them on Monday.

As well as the above you could try Euroforest, the FC, Novar Estate are quite close to you are they not? Other estates may also be able to help out. See who the lorries belong to and give the haulier a call, they might be able to point you in the right direction.

Forestry commission sell the wood at £20 a ton which is pretty good for small loads etc. You can uplift yourself or arrange for a haulier to pick up for you but you need to arrange haulier.

Probably not.

He died of hypothermia waiting for a load at £20/tonne.
