Hi. Does anybody buy really popular poplar. Will have about 100 ton of 3ft diameter coming up near preston. What's it used for apart from matches. Any info would be appreciated. Ta

If there clean butts can be used for all sorts. Traditionally trailer and wagon beds as it's very impact resistant. It also takes treatment well so can be used in most applications where soft woid woukd be used like garden furniture, sheds etc. Think you will do well to sell it though.

I'd Have a little bit of it if you were closer and it was cheap.

I have been surprised at how well it burns.

 

I have always found it burns really well . Must be kept dry though as it has sponge like qualities where water is concerned .

Used a fair bit in painted kitchen cabinets. Americans call it Tulipwood. Paints well with the tight grain. Must be a sawmill keen to take it. Our joiner uses loads of it.
