Just in case anybody cares but doesn't know, Steven Hawking is in the new series of Hitchhiker's Guide on radio 4 on Thursdays.  First episode is on the i-player.

Edit: they're also repeating one of his Reith lectures tonight at 9.

Isn’t it ironic how ‘irrational nonsense’ as he arrogantly puts it, is changing thousands of lives in a dramatic and positive way.
(If you want to lump all theistic beliefs together then allow me to do the same with the spectrum of atheist ideologies)
Which ideology is responsible for the most death and misery in the 20th C. ??

(My apologies Mark, I mistakenly thought at first he was just another rabid new atheist) watched it to the end but my internet is very poor so it was stuttering.
Seems like a decent guy. Think I read a couple of his books way back, in prison I think.
Makes some very good points, especially the ones about the charlatan faith healers. (Happens to be a pet hate of mine). Particularly in Christian circles.
I would have liked to hear him venture a little further by saying that not all faith is irrational but that’s my philosophy, and maybe not his.?
Thanks [emoji106]

Asimov is one of the most intelligent human beings who ever lived, a true visionary.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isaac_Asimov

He wrote a load of science fiction.  Some of his ideas are actually being used in space.

He proposed the concept of the three laws of robotics: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Laws_of_Robotics

His book, 'The Robots of Dawn', touches nicely on the human condition.

Nice suit as well.

Whilst on the subject of brilliant minds please allow me to share one of my favourites. It shorter than the Asimov interview.
