But is it a wasted vote? Just because a party does not get in does't mean the big two dont see where their votes went and adjust policy.

I'm definitely politically naive but agree. New labour are tories by nature but can't get  ahead in the conservative party, old labour may be nicer people but their striving for equality leads to bureaucracy and  too many civil servants.

PM Johnson and his cronies are just what they seem, self serving, uncaring and devious and it's showing in their internecine feuding but even Churchill was  the same but he got the job done. The key is they all want power so if they see a swing to a green vote it may make them aware they could lose power if they don't change their  policies.

Green party?

They'd be a good option, they've obviously got their priorities in the right order. Sadly though unless/until we can reshape our electoral system to something more like Proportional Representation they'll always be a "wasted vote" in our broken system.

Folk don’t like what we got, but had the chance in 2011 to change it. 70% voted against AV 30% for. So “we” got what we voted for.

I love the argument for AV / PR when used to support a Green Party “fairness” of representation case.

People seem to overlook that a significant change (and I’m not saying I don’t see the need) would have far wider implications than  just for the Green Party.

We’d have Farage in Westminster right now for example!

That's why I said "something more like" PR. [emoji848] There's no easy answer but the current setup is obviously not working. Heaven forbid that someone the likes of Farage were to ever get into power! Though on reflection he couldn't be that much better that Boris surely.

Of course it can as thankfully we still live in a democracy.

Let's use the system to change our politics. It is that simple but we have to hold our nerve at the ballot box and vote for the long game not who is less bad for tomorrow

We have the illusion of a democracy. Its heavily weighted to a two party system and the 'first past the post' ensures it will never change.

I think the closest the two main parties where to being seriously rattled was when the UKIP where in full swing. A sizable portion of the UK where united in a common goal of getting us out of the EU. With that level of unrest the Tories tried to call their bluff and ended up with egg on their face.

I cannot see any other part coming close to breaking this system. None of the other fringe parties has a clue other than making their unique selling point their only real manifesto. SNP? Wank. Greens? Wank. Lib Dems? Wank.

The French had the right idea for changing the system. Nothing short of that is going to have any effect.
