In case anyone's interested in how come P&O were able to shaft 800 British workers, but their EU colleagues are all still in their jobs...

The government aren't in a position to take legal action against P&O because of the law they pushed through parliament excluded shipping companies from the requirement to notify the secretary of state in this country before announcing mass redundancies.

They only have to notify the equivalent person in the country the ships are registered in, but there's no legal penalty listed for them failing to do that, whereas there is a legal penalty for non-shipping UK companies who did this.

So the government specifically put in place a new law on leaving the EU that allowed ferry operators and other shipping companies to do exactly this without any penalty.

Yet they've spent the last 2 weeks publicly proclaiming how wrong it all is, while not mentioning the fact that they wrote the law that allowed it to happen.

Coincidentally the minister responsible now has a cushy £100k a year job for 1 day a week working for one of the biggest international port operators.

Working class tory voters - this is what they really think of you.

Been going on for years under successive governments Mark. Try and make a political anti Tory thing if you want but your about 40 years behind the curve.

You see that's the thing, I'm concerned about what's happening now, not what went on 40 years ago.

It would be difficult to call out a Labour government seeing as we don't have one.

What do you think about the "The Conservative Party and Putin's Russia: a story of total moral failure" video?

No your not Mark it’s only ever an opportunity to Tory bash with you, the UK shipbuilding and seafarers have been failed by every government for years, what you mean is you don’t mind if it’s labour shafting people but do if it’s Tory. . Politicians are all the same once in power. The video is nothing Mark, media can make up anything they want and most will buy it.

I did Mark, rubbish quite frankly I thought, nothing but one sided propaganda so much so that any valid points were lost. Like I keep saying they are all the same bud. The current pathetic excuse for an opposition is not helping matters. Starmer is a dripping totally uninspiring captain hindsight millionaire socialist whom most working class people have zero connection with. He should have had Boris in bits by now. It’s ironic that it takes a mass sacking event to wake people up in regards the UK seafarers situation when in reality  it’s been going on for years.

I agree with your appraisal of Starmer. I think that Boris should have quit by now though.
I also agree that it is ironic that people are only now beginning to cotton on to the fact that we've been taken for granted all this time.

BBC and other right wing press is  so bias towards the  tories that this huge corruption doesn't really get that much main stream coverage, and alot  don't even watch the mainstream news anyway so don't realize whats going on when they do mention it.

Only 4,000 views on youtube only so far for that video....

Angie Rayner would be better proper socialist working class lass from Donny 😉

Tory home counties would hate here  😄

Her voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me. There are plenty of pleasant northern accents (I say that with grandparents from Rawtenstall and Sheffield) but hers is not one of them.

It might be a tiny bit prejudiced of me to suggest that people with extreme regional accents make a bit of an effort to communicate in a flatter, more accessible manner, but given that the purpose of communication is to communicate clearly, her thick NW parlance inhibits her ability to reach people outside of her geographical area.
