I don't understand how they've pulled this off, how can they be made redundant when other people are going to fill the jobs. I thought the job itself that becomes redundant, not the person?

They were sacked by a foreign company not subject to UK legislation

Yup, UK workers for foreign companies lost their job security when we left the EU.

Don’t blame Brexit for an issue that’s been going on for years Mark under loads of different governments. They didn’t have any security  in first place.

I’ve been on vessels in UK sector/waters for years before brexit and it was and is predominantly foreign crews. Prebrexit ive been binned off jobs myself for In my case a Latvian replacement. Currently the whole wind farm situation is a joke, constructed overseas, installed by foreign vessels with foreign crews for in most  cases overseas companies.

Still, it wouldn't have happened if we were still in the EU.
We've made our bed, we should expect more things like this to happen in the future.
I regret voting to leave, as I thought we might have had 'proper' politicians doing the negotiating who would strike a deal that benefitted us. I was wrong, but there it is.

Denmark is in the EU, Norway is subject to EU laws and yet it happens there as well.

It has happened and it would Mark. On this bud you are wrong. I’ve experienced it myself so how can you say it wouldn’t have happened.

Why do you think that P&O haven't replaced any of their French employees during this restructuring move?

No idea Mark but as I’ve said already it was happening way way before brexit. Free movement of cheap labour bud ??. Myself and a team of guys were swapped out for Latvian agency workers on a cable recovery job in UK waters before the brexit referendum so to claim it wouldn’t have happened is bollocks.
