I've been thinking of upgrading my chipper, i do like older models and no electrics and rubbish approach.

 

Thinking maybe a forst tr8 or a jensen a540t

 

Only issue for me is finding a decent jensen dealer as i havent up to now found one im satisfied with after redwood finished with them.

 

What size do these chippers narrow down to? And what do they weigh? Currently run a jensen a 530t and want to speed production up more. Works really busy and a bigger chipper would make life a lot easier

Used both a lot. I went for the Jensen as a owner operator, slightly 'softer' but much easier to live with.

Second that. Opposite view to above post about poor feed rollers. Forst =bye bye brash.

We have 400 hours on tr8, never had a feed roller issue. Way Out performs the 540t that it replaced. Redwoods service has been perfect as always.

I've just ordered a new Jensen 540t from Arbrep. I had an almost brand new Forst on hire while my old 1996 jensen engine had seized and it broke down twice in one week which put me off.

We have a forst tracked chipper ex hire, having done very little work we are moving away from hire machines, located in penrith, cumbria if anyone is interested.

I agree they are well built, everyone who has hired it has said how good it is.

I haven't used the tr8 but I have used the tr6's both tracked & tow. I would choose the forst over jensen every time, well built & for the hours they had both done performed like new. Even though I found their sales hunger a bit ott! give lyle a ring & get one on demo.
