So Im looking for a new Helmet. And i want the STIHL VENT PLUS ARBORIST HELMET, but it says its not suitable for ground work...

I spend more time on the ground cutting than up in the tree. Does anybody use Arborist helmet both on ground and up in the tree..? I dont want to have to buy two helmets, when i feel the one can do both jobs..?

According to HSE it is within the regulations to use a climbing helmet if it's rated to EN12492 which the Petzl Vertex Vent is (what the Stihl Vent Plus appears to be in reality)

If you wear a ground helmet in the tree would you still be allowed to use a top handle saw ?

No you must use a large ground saw.

However, that means if you wear an arborist helmet on the ground you must use a top handled saw.

So long as you clip the chin strap!

Hahaah!

If the Tree Police catch you wearing a climbing helmet for ground work they will smash your head in.

Thanks for this comment. I haven't been able to put my helmet on without laughing since you mentioned it.

I may well buy one of these just for the crack!

Why would you want one with a crack in it, surely that would be dangerous
