Evening everyone I have been offered a l200 single cab 84000 miles, 2 owners from new, service history 12 months Mot, £1500,anyone know what there like on fuel consumption, reliability, I run a small mowing &maintenance business, any thoughts?

Personally I wouldn't want one for free..out of the big 4 they come a very poor 4th....ranger first....( cause I have 2 and never ever have had any trouble or let me down and my work one is 17 years old and still flys)..but you have a budget so your limited to what you can get...but be warned that 80,0000 ish miles is were your problems may start.good luck anyway.

I had a 53 plate, Most thirsty vehicle i had owned in years!

Used to get 300 miles to a tank at 75.00

Got shut for a navara that did 400 miles to a tank at 75.00

Now run a ranger and get 380-400 miles a tank at 65.00

From the l200 to the navara it was day and night! never would i have one of them again

Have had 6 of them , can't fault them...

I think it's a thing with trucks....some good some bad and some of us have good luck with vehicles and some have bad...if you've had 6 and all been good well you can't argue with that...still wouldn't touch one with a barge pole.

Ha ha yeah I guess so , thinking about it we have had 7, two second gen ,three third and two fourth ...one of the third gen was an animal or some thing brought cheap and sold for what was payed but that was not a good truck ,far to thirsty but never had any serious grief with the single cabs, maybe the occasional clutch on high milage and worn out ones .. And they get worked hard hauling and towing.

Had quite a few problems with early hi lux gear boxes so switched to the l200 and never looked back apart from one LR 90 that lasted 3 months.

YI had an 05, plate the head gasket went last October, a week after sailing through its mot! She was a good sound body wise, had the obligatory steering g box replacement, reconditioned one off eBay,

Was heavy on fuel

I managed to get to 130k before head gasket went, usually between 110- 120k.

That age of l200s, were said to be the best ones,

Id chance it I got mine at 85k, miles.

Borrowed my dads 04 one for best part of a year when I was between land rovers did the job but load space on the double cab isn't big enough to get much in and fuel consumption was around 25mpg if you lucky on normal use and when towing it was getting close to being gallons to the mile, too light on the back end too wouldn't put traction down if had a well loaded trailer on and would have to put it in 4wd to set off on any sort of slight slope on Tarmac.
