550 bogging

My 550 is coming on for 14 months old now and has been fine.

I had somebody using it for a few months and not really taking care of it and now I'm using it again it doesn't seem right.

When starting from cold or hot, it revs then dies off. Can do this a few times but eventually picks up and will cut.

Currently I have a 15" full chis which is sharp but even cutting 10" hornbeam/birch/syc it doesn't have much guts and can't be pushed in the cut.

Check replace fuel filter in the tank, Partial seizure could also be possible, remove the muffler and check the condition of the piston throught the open exhaust port, if ok then an air leak, crank seal, or cylinder base gasket.

Cheers for that I'll get a new filter in it and plug, then check the other things.

Don't lend saws out if you can't afford to replace them.

My saws only use fuel that I've personally mixed. Not that I don't trust people per se, but people just don't take the same care with a borrowed saw that they would if they've bought it with their hard earned.

I have a 550 sat on my bench with a partial seizure and guess what it ran on aspen !! To think it offers 100% protection when I've also had a km130 drop a valve and wreck an engine on aspen it is not ever going to cure every engine malfunction ....

In regards to the original post if the auto tune does not need resetting I would go with the partial seize... In which case sending it to spud and get it ported when he cleans it up and you won't look back :)
