The power of positive thinking

Have to admit I wasn't thinking very positive thoughts towards a customer when we rolled up to today's job, and they cancelled. Apparently they left a message on the office answerphone last night.

Times like this when you need a lot of grace.

Nothin wrong with a bit of rage here an there, I dare say if you'd of been braver you'd of told him were to stick his job... a curse on all your houses... an all that...:thumbup1:

Postitivity and Enthusiasm is highly contageous in my opinion and i like to think i spread it...i call it,"The Silky Effect" it is more powerful than Kryptonite!😆😆😆 But seriously....i find positivity requires little or no energy so its not rocket science to see how that can be a benefit in life.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't say there was anything wrong with being enthusiastic or positive.. I think thats a good thing, and yes it does rub off on people..

My point was it aught be genuine and not contrived... No sitting at home trying to change your personality, it ain't gonna happen....

In some ways I see your personality as not being to different than Stefans, only more level headed and less manic...

Kryptonite always saps my enthusiasm, and my super powers. Only the green stuff though and lead shielding helps against it. :001_rolleyes:

Braver?? Or stupid more like. She paid a percentage for the inconvenience in the end, and we picked a job up next door. 🙂

So, the opposite to "the power of positive thinking" worked in your case?..

Came to do a job, got shafted, you got mad and somehow all that negative energy got you some compen and another job next door!!!!..

Who said positive thinking worked?...

Err, a coupe of things spring to mind.. weeping at a broken down truck and seein it as a challenge to be met, mine broke down this morning, believe me, I had no tears for it, just rage...

Then there the Titanium thing, comparing it to positive thoughts, who does that?...

And not least, I've provided an explanation of how people become successful and why, and still he and others are too dense to understand it...

Basically, you are what you are, don't imagine anything you do will change that... people can spout rubbish about positive thinking all they want..

Truth is when you're on a good run you tend towards being positive, when things go wrong you tend to being miserable... don't imagine its being positive that gets you the good run, that comes the other way round...

Its called confirmation bias..... seein what they want to see... they think because they were happy when things went well, all they have to do is be happy/positive and things will get better... Nope it don't work like that..

Exhaustion, try spending a day pretending to be optimistic happy positive, I dare say your'll be so exhausted you'll need a day to get over it...

Thanks Mick.... nice to have a bit of support here an there

Much as it pains me ,on this subject I have to agree with you ;):D personally I think determination and a certain degree of stubbornness will get you further than positive thinking.

Positive thinking is a good thing and in a team it can really raise Morale. But I believe to make success is more to do with bloody hard work, smile or not.

I have to agree with Joe as well. Sometimes you just have to get angry (obviously not around the customer).

I do think as a team leader that getting peed off is part of the job, if the guys are messing about and being lazy buggers or newbies are putting themselves at risk you need to get shouty.

I spend most my working time calm and relaxed with a 'come on lads lets get this last bit done, we are on the home stretch' attitude. But some times it's the complete opposite.

I think positive attitude is a great thing but I think people often mistake a positive attitude for a passion for the job, I often hear people say you have a real positive attitude but I'm just thinking no I just bloody love climbing big trees.

Hope this makes sense, but I'm sure it was more like a load of rambling.

Must say this thread been brilliant and very giving, been a joy to read all the comments.. I don't know if it is the universal power of positively or what it could be but I been totally bombarded with stump grinding jobs today, I'm so happy that I can soon get a second machine a predator 75. I have the quote there ready to press buy soon.

Tomorrow morning is a big day for me and my step daughter, she is finally getting her cancer operated away, and it have not spread to other parts of her body. Such a bless !

She been such a star during this emotional time of our life.

Life is to short to spend it on negativity
