Hows your work load?

I try not to book stuff in too, it's just easier. Plus most of our commercial clients ring up wanting an immediate start, and they take priority.. Nothing worse than cancelling a weeks worth of domestics.

Stupidly busy. Struggling to find time to get stock cut or do jobs at the yard that have needed doing for months. Been very busy on timber harvesting/selling, but the milling has still been pretty steady. Lot of work going forwards too, that will take us to mid summer I expect.

At that point where I need to step back a smidge and delegate, but as a self confessed control freak, I'm struggling!

OK, lets say you ring on Tuesday night and ask if Wednesday is convenient, they may say "no, friday would be better" "no problem, see you friday" :001_smile:

I am going to give this a go. And try and work this way if possible. Seems like a lot more chilled out way of working.

It's the way to go. Doesn't make sense to book specific days for things when weather and breakdowns might mean it's the worst day to be there. Much better to give a week you'll aim to be there and ask if there are days that are better or worse to aim for but no promises

I'm going to give it a go, unfortunately I fear most customers are going to want a specific date.

But I definitely see the benefits of working this way without a doubt.

Never had that because never worked like that! If I'm booking stuff for within a week of looking at the job ill give a day there and then as can be reasonable certain of weather, what's already booked in etc if they give the go ahead. Two weeks onwards I say which week we'll aim for and ask if any days that week are good or bad to aim for and make a note and call a few days before I've got a spot or when have another job in the area that makes a day up if it's a small job
