Pto winch to hydraulic

I've got an idea to get a 2nd hand pto forestry winch and make up a linkage adapter so I can carry it on the front loader of my massy, originally this was just a transport solution to get it to and from site if I had 1 of the trailers on the back but then I started to wounder if there is a way of fitting a hydraulic motor onto the pto shaft and plug it into the extra service in the loader to be able to run it.

Anyone done similar or any advice on if it's feasible or what type/size motor I'll need nd if anyone makes an easy on off collar for 1 similar to the pump on the botex trailer.

Nobody?

Ok Gray I will bite :) A Staffa motor ( radial piston motor)would be ideal to turn the winch but you would need to match the flowrate with one of those pto driven pumps like the one on your grab (but bigger).

Ok so would need a pump at back end nd piped to front to turn the pto, hmm was hoping to run from where a muck grab etc would plug into. Save having to take trailer on nd off and be able to reach over a roadside crash barrier for a job I've got to do.

i think it would work if you fitted a motor to drive the pto but i don't think it would be fast i don't think the tractor hydraulics would have enough flow.if you find out how much flow and pressure you have you can easily work out the power you would have at the motor

Lgpeddie on here has done basically what you are describing, to run a pto forestry winch on a digger. It's probably somewhere in the show us your digger thread - I'd pm him for more info.

Took a while but found the pictures of his set up. Looks good, bit more advanced than I want but the same principle to be able to reach over crash barriers to winch up.

Gray, could you not just mount a normal hydraulic winch to the front of the tractor and redirect the rope over or through the front loader with guides?

The tractor hydraulics have no problems with the six ton superwinch.

Just thoughts
