Which forestry crane?

Looking at cranes to mount on my Botex trailer. 3point linkage to maybe use on a chipper and want good lifting force. At the moment I'm favouring the ryetec 6.7m crane lifts 2.2 ton close in, fold down legs and joystick controls. Where as the Botex 360 crane 6m reach lifts 1.2 ton close in, hydraulic sleeve legs with a spool 6 lever block.

Any one have any experience with these cranes and any others out there...

I have a 6.7m KTS crane, supplied by Ryetec.

It is a powerful crane, no doubt about it, she has lifted some searious butts, but i find mine painfully slow.

That said, my tractor pumps out 80lpm, but the valve block is only 60lpm, so this could be part of the problem.

Botex is pure junk; cheap and high spec'd for a reason. Falls to pieces. Avoid.

I've got a 6.7m KTS (Ryetec) and am very pleased with it. It is really strong, and certainly fast enough for arb. Not sure if it might be a bit slow for pure forestry, but it's very powerful and really well put together. It could do with a bigger grab though - it's not up to gripping 2 tonne plus oak butts (even though the crane will lift them).

I have just replaced the grab with a Oniar G23 and its made a huge difference to the crane.

I also fitted a slightly more powerful rotator.

 

Oniar cranes would be worth a look also, Riko are the agents

Have you looked at the Farma range,they do 3 point link cranes we have a trailer crane of theirs and it has served us well.
