.... but I don't personally think there is any chance of one actually coming apart even if shock loaded.

 

You are most probably right, but why bet your life on such an unknown? There is a hugh amount of strength loss when a formerly closed metal ring is open.

Didn't the Mk 1 fail and a climber was injured ?

Is this / was this also the MkII?

Flip, this thread moved on at a pace n my question is answered that this is the MkI ...I think.
