Small saw decisions...

I have a 550xpg (2013) and so far it's been 100% reliable - I've cut a fair amount with it. Whatever you get worth having the heated handle version, I reckon.

My ideal setup would be:

Small saw: Husky battery saw (zero petrol and very quiet/ but a shame about the price).

Medium saw: Husky 550xpg (medium tree felling, snedding, etc).

Large saw: Stihl 880 (large trees & Alaskan milling).

There's my thoughts.

cheers, steve

We have a 261, it has been an awful saw, loads of clutch problems. I'd go for the 550. although personally I'd find a second hand 346xp and get spud to port it.

I have a 261 also a bag of crap with clutch problems, been re built 3 times and faulty again! Husky 550 or dolmar 5105.

Dare i mention Echo? Cs550 or similar? No doubt not as quick cutting as the Husky but build quality wise...

The CS550 is an overheavy, bulky and underpowered saw - there are much better alternatives from Echo out there (even those are a bit lacking though).
