One change that might annoy people is im considering making people log in with their email address rather than username. I know for a fact a lot of members probably have no idea what email address they originally used to create their accounts with. Nothing a simple email via the contact form wont sort out mind.

Why that change

If you go on your list of messages you'll see a box that says inbox with so many messages on it, if you click on it. It should have a drop down menu with inbox, sent, delete .

Aaahhh nice one Ian. Thank you

Currently all a hacker needs to do is guess a users password. If they are not logging in with their display name the hacker would have to guess their email address as well. Logging in with the email would add a pretty much infallible security layer

Not sure if this has been mentioned.

On other forums I use there is a reputation system. Similar to liking something, if you find you receive a useful response you can give 'rep' points to the poster. They then build a 'rep' score which is generally displayed under their forum name to the left of each post.

This means, when you're given conflicting advice you could choose to take the advice from the person with the highest 'rep' count. Currently all you have to go by is post count, and an enormous post count doesn't always relate to sound technical knowledge.

I think that might be useful?

No, please no. It was the worst thing about a large forum I used to use. It made people control their posts and such forth. Very bad idea and no need for it. This forum doesn't need a currency (because that's exactly what rep points become).

Believe me i'm not doing this for the sake of it. Its going to be a nightmare from start to finish not to mention cost a fortune..the headaches have already started!

I don't envy you this. Pleasing all of the people all of the time will always be impossible and, having had my whinge, I trust your judgement to get it as near right as it can be.
