Is that a sacrificial anode on the hull, bod?

I can't see it making any difference, I've seen them plastered all over narrow boats, they don't look anything like the one on your boat, mind.

 

Where is it going in the water?

 

Is it an ex British waterways boat?

E6z its going in a six acre private lake for a month or two to winch out all the willow and general crap and commotion with the view to chip as much as possible up the banks. Then into the Thames for the rest of the year clearing up stuff hanging into the water around moorings.

 

Its a narrowboat we converted about fifteen years ago. I have got a fair bit of floating Arby stuff, I will post up some pics of it.
