is this a top handle saw or ground saw??

browsing through ebay out of boredom and found this is it above is gorund saw or top handle saw has it been convert?

Its and old stihl disc cutter with the saw conversion from yesteryear. I have one:blushing: I would like to see anyone use that with one hand so cant really be classed as a top handle.

wow it must wieght a fair bit then why would you convert such a thing

I think converted is misleading, it was an option.

 

That's an old school saw and that's just what manufacturers did back in the day

its an old 08s was available as a chainsaw as well as a disc cutter I had one for many years and mate still uses it I got it from an estate forester it was their spare saw and was never used

08s I believe, the engine was also used on disc cutters, I had a strimmer with the same engine,fs353av,absolute beast of a machine.

I think they got used as boat anchors too, and vibrate like mad when used.

Er, thanks I followed the link and spotted a Stijl 051 further down the page, now it will take all of my will power not to bid on this saw

I've got 3 working 051s that all run lovely. Can't believe someone would pay £100 for a non runner though. What do you think a good runner us worth?

I sold one about a year ago for £130, it ran lovely, wish I hadn't sold it..... Non runner probably worth less than 100
