Hi all im after some info.

Theres a lane / street with a name etc.

Ive a tree to do and to access it from this lane would be great. Would save half a day or so. The tree is in a garden at the side of the lane.

The lane is a single access one 1.5 times car width

When i went to look at the tree i had a guy cone out saying id need permission off all the houses to work on the lane.

I would talk to the residents and tell then when i would be coming. I would move when necessary etc maybe not go down there till eeryones gone to work.

But my question is. This lane inc street name albeit un adopted... Do i need permission to go down there?

I'd speak to your customer and see if they are friendly with a close neighbour on the Lane that would let you park up etc in a driveway. Might cost you a few quid in facilitation. Your customer may even have some access rights themselves to their garden via the Lane.

I live on a similar un adopted road and we all recognise that now and again the road is obstructed with work vans etc. It's generally not a problem vans/lorries get shifted etc. It helps to pop a few leaflets through the door and definitely avoid bin days! Unfortunately you seem to have bumped into a Victor Meldrew type :001_rolleyes:

If an unadopted road has not been adopted by the local council and its maintenance is up to the frontiers, can you not explain to the residents that not only does the customer has a right to use the lane, but anyone providing a service on their behalf? if the tree is close to the road you could explain that removing it will reduce the amount of leaves being dropped into the road as well as removing the future risk of the tree itself falling into the road. But yeah it sounds like you met the nosey neighbour!

Does your client have a right over the un adopted road ?

Y = no problem

N = You are going to have to negotiate

There's always some one who lives up these lanes who can't help but poke there nose in, I live in a lane like this and when I was digging a trench to lay my water pipes I had a guy stop my blokes, I could tell straight away there was no reasoning with him and all the talking in the world would not help so jus told him to f**k off,

we get on now so all,s good

Best bet is to just get on with it and save wasting time
