£200 saw??

Hopefully this will get some heads scratching and cogs whirring on a Sunday morning.

 

I now have a burning boy out with me, (chestnut and firewood coppice) and he does his best with a billhook but I need to get a saw for him to run so he is faster.

 

I can spare around £200 for him and have been looking at the following:

 

New 170/180 stihl

New husky 136

Second hand husky 350/262 similar

 

 

Now I like the idea of buying something new and having a warranty but would I be better with a good second hand pro saw for him?

 

This saw may also double as a carver for me, I can't let the young guys use my 550/372 just yet 😜

A Husq 350 is a decent semi pro saw from per experience.. or a good 024/026 may fit the bill. Spares are easy . Ms 260 if you feel like splashing out .

Forget the 171 and think 181 as a baseline or s'hand 211. For around £230 inc. VAT, you can get a new Echo CS-352ES. Not the most powerful of saws but a decent warranty.

Just looking on the echo site, the warrants look real good on their site.

I would go 2nd hand Husky then send it to spud . Thats as good if not better than any warranty

I'd of thought both those little saws would be perfect for breaking down branch wood for burning up especially if your burning boy is not that experienced, good to have sat by chipper n all😀

I just bought a husqvarna 135 to replace my mitox cs41(less than 2months old). All I can say is the husky feels in a different league, I've only done 2hrs with it but I would recommend it for light work.

The last 135 I used cut well above it's weight. It's plasticky, but it cuts.
