So I just pick them up and punt them, so much fun!

Wow, 'punt them'? As in kick them? Were you one of those loner kids who'd pour salt on slugs and burn ants with a magnifying glass? I go hunting so I'm no stranger to killing animals, but it's done humanely. Any creature thats going to die deserves a bit of dignity.

I'd reckon a well aimed kick would be about as instant death as you could get, not sure if it should be enjoyable but suffering would be at a minimum.

Had the bigger brutes come into out yard barn last week and chew the rubber around the truck gear stick and chew a hole in my new arbpro jacket, war was instantly declared and poison bait boxes went down.

I thought it was only 1 but 7 bags went in 1 night so recon it could have been more but hopefully that should have stunted them for now.

Mice I can put up with, rat's are a definite no no!

I've never known there be "just one" with rats they always invade as a family and start breeding if there is a food supply. Next door were "feeding the birds" last year and rats came along as bold as brass in broad daylight. There are two walls between us with a small gap and they were living in the gap so I got some limestone chippings and cement and filled the gap. Next door stopped feeding and they soon disappeared. Usually if you have mice it's a sign you don't have rats as they don't co-exist well, sack the cats and get some that will work for a living.

Animal welfare and RSPCA advise the most humane way to do a rat etc is to place in a sack and club it to death !!!! I think kicking it has a much chance of killing it than trying to guess were it is in a sack .

I used to breed rats for my pet snake and was advised the best way to kill em was to lob them hard against a wall, instantly pulverises all their organs apparently.

Didn't have a single one get up after.
