Are there any local tree surgeons ( Harps, Luton ) that want to get rid of some logs/rings. I can collect via a trailer if it is accessible.

I can probably take a truck load ( I will probably share it with my neighbour) so I can chainsaw up and an store for next winter.

Welcome to the forum.

According to Ritemove the average price of a decent semi in Harpenden is £500k, I guess you should be able to afford to buy a couple of cubic meters for this winter then maybe next summer someone may find you some rings but these days most home owners having a tree down have a queue of friends waiting for the wood. As many tree surgeons also sell logs not many have spare rings unless collected from site at short notice.

If you don't ask you don't get. To some tree surgeons the timber is gold because they have the time to turn it into logs. To other more busy tree surgeons the wood is a curse and someone offering to collect in a decent large trailer is a god send especially if you are buying the whole crew kfc or similar.

That's my area so may find you something but are you fussy what wood it is? If you want decent seasoned split stuff let me know, I don't do logs but know a local company that does

I don't understand the p-taking on this one. There's been plenty of offers here in the past of free wood. I'm also on a Facebook group set up purely for tree surgeons to find free tip sites for chip and Arb waste.

Quite so but imagine how much better that request would have landed with an offer of a drink or suchlike.
