I had a full road closure last year here in town.

Council supplied the metal barriers and we bolstered the defences with a load of brash to discourage pushy sorts.

Still the they came, 2 guys out jogging, both ways too, vaulting the barriers and one dodging a chog that splattered him with gravel.

I nearly had an anxiety attack.

Then a little old lady quietly opening a barrier to walk her dog through the mess of branches THEN a youngster who called his dad to come and argue the toss with us for not letting him pass.

Good old Dad told his son where to get off and then came out to apologise to us.

One lady driver unwilling to make a detour called the Mayor's office to complain as well.

Short of manning the barriers with arm to arm groundies I despair when it comes to securing a work site from the general public menace...

grim. Be interested to know more details, ie how many ground crew, where they were standing. Time and time again I see ground crew who don't seem to appreciate that when it comes to our work, cars and pedestrians do not have the right of way, ever. Stop everything until you are given the go ahead by the climber/faller...that means physically standing in their path, not standing half hearted with a limp wrist politely asking them to stop.

Still, no point speculating, but would still be interested to know the full story
