Wouldnt work in scotland mate, were tight arsed up here, the meer mention of a freebie would have them drooling, they would find fault in the job to justify non payment.Ive seen it happen.

LOL seen it happen, well I was once worried it might happen to me..

But thankfully it hasn't yet...

See the thing is, I might do that if its an old lady who looks like she's a bit worried.

wouldn't try in it on some fella with a range rover in the drive..

An I don't suppose the good people in the North West are much behind your Scotish breather-in when it comes to spending money as well.

Another thing to bear in mind is that customers can smell desperation, you need to go in confident. Even if you have no work on you want to portray the image that you're not scratching around and desperate for this one job or they'll wonder why

Yeah, don't tell them you can do the job tomorrow!! Even if you can, give them a few days lead time perhaps.

I know every site has a different set of challenges etc, but what is the ball park number for a days work? Say I forget the chipper and take the brash to the local recycling centre, save money but add time. Would £400 be a better price, a day cutting and a day transporting?

how about a different approach, if you've only got to get a wage/living for you and the family it's easy. Do the 'plodding' jobs on your own, hedges, grass cutting and the likes, a few jobs in a day will draw £150?/day, tip the waste in a lay-by on the way home (joking), find a burn site or somewhere cheap to tip. Get a bigger job, let's say £400/day get a groundsman in for £120/day, your now on £430 less costs for two days work, costs for one man bands are next to nothing if you work local to home. Day three, it's phishing with rain, go to the pub, back down to £400 less costs, Thursday is a big hitter, booked a two day job in for £1000, needs a chipper mind, so knock off £130 for chipper and £120, maybe £240 if groundsman is needed on second day, end of week got a few quid and only worked four days....... Don't tell the Mrs that you were in the pub all day Wednesday, this don't go down to well. Life ain't difficult.:001_smile:

Simple view, can't see him having any money for growth working like that though.
