Sorry but its a pricing question

thanks Starscream and Vespasian, more sound advice, I might have been a bit greedy with my prices for this stage of the game. I based my prices on what my mates make, which is about £500 a day usually. I thought £150 to £200 a day was cheap considering the work, looks like i'll be re-thinking my pricing!

Are you sure your mates are really making that rate per day?

Something tells me your gonna be doing a lot of freebies

Nope, tried this tack on loads of people, though not all..

Pick an choose see, if they look decent an genuine sorts, but you can tell they don't want to get ripped, then I roll out the "if your not happy, don't pay" card..

People want to trust you see, just give em a reason to do that..

cant you guys get a permit from the council to dump 'recycable' green waste at there household tip sites? all u would need is a truck or mabe car and trailer and youve all ready taken the full cost of that chipper hire out of your price, never mind the time taken to collect and return it....

all i can say about your day rate is be confident in your prices you want, i stand by my price of £30ph for grass cutting with the ride on even when the customer tells you youve lost the job, somehow theye allways returned to me once they figure out the guy down the road who can do it for £20ph is a right rough worker.

Yeah they are, Their garages are filled with motorbikes, boats, jetski's, flash cars etc. They are magnets for money.

Yeah, or they're crooks. It's funny though, my wife and I are privileged enough to own a nice car; if I take the car to a quote, I find, invariably, I don't get the quote. If I go in my battered van I'll get 8/10 of them. Customers don't like 'flash' as they feel they're funding a lifestyle instead of a job. Just my thoughts:001_smile:

Maybe then again I run a new truck (3 months old) I find I gains me work as it looks professional.

How can you possibly say it gains you work? You can't quantify that. Do you ask them "did you choose me because of my shiny new van?" Or was it because you're professional, good at your job and established????

How can you say your battered van gains you work?

It's just another point of view do your clients say I picked you because you have a ratty old van?
