Piranha Chainsaw Chain - Press Release

My primary saw is an Echo CS-8002 with multiple bars. I use 3/8" 050 chain on 16", 18" & 20" bars & 3/8 058 on 18" & 28" bars at the moment.

Picking a chain by pitch gauge & drive link count is the easiest option for me. I also buy reels of chain & make my own loops when I spot a reel at the right price and/or take advantage of bulk discounts for multiple loops if the are a size I use.

I have numerous other saws too but they are not worth mentioning as they tend to come & go fairly quickly so I don't buy a lot of chains for anything else except my climbing saws (which I already have a big supply of chains for at the present time).

Not for you then .....:001_smile:

Not until they expand the range. Had a look at the new "by type & size" chain finder they have got & it looks like it would be easier to track down a 1/2" chain for my Teles than buy a chain for a saw I actually use regularly at the moment with the exception of the 026 although I can't remember the last time I had the bar on that to be honest as I only use it with the HS246 hedge trimmer attachment.

Used a chain in the last couple of days on a tiny Oleo Mac that happened to be in the car when I needed to cut 400mm ash. Obviously far too much for the 35-ish cc saw, but it battled through bravely.

The chain survived the abuse well, although stretched more than Oregon etc, but was being totally abused...

Certainly sharp, and didn't snap under horrific abuse.

That's all I have so far. Will deffo try out some on bigger saws next.

I guess it's just Chinese stuff rebranded anyway?

:confused1:

I've been running piranha chain from northern arb on my processor for two days. Chains cost me £8 ish plus vat each. I've got to say I'm seriously impressed. I'm cutting oak that's been skidded out of a clay rich forest and is really filthy. Still sharp after 25 cube. Not even worth sharpening at that price!
