A survey appointment took me past the Meikleour hedge during the week. I thought it would be in wonderful autumnul colours but it was barely turning. And it's well into its spell since its last 10 year trim.

Anyway, if anyone ever wondered what it looks like on the other side, here it is. Poor pic because there is so little light in there it was a hand-held 1/20 of a second exposure. Note a big Beech has snapped atthe base and fallen inwards.

Excellent Jules, have driven past a few times but never taken the opportunity to a have sniff around the back.

Thanks for sharing :thumbup1:

Interesting that the leaves aren't going over yet, ours in London are starting to turn.

I'm surprised the leaves are turning in London only a few falling in Lincoln so I would have thought London would not be there yet

I'm surprised that it's the tallest hedge in the world, the UK yes, but the world? You learn something new everyday. I've been round the back, but it was thirty odd years ago, I'm sure that tree was still stood then:biggrin:

Our trees are changing colour daily, in Manchester, and some species are starting to abscise. As noted elsewhere, we're getting some brilliant autumnal colouration.

I live about 10 miles from the hedge.Looks like its due a trim soon.I passed when they trimmed it in the nineties with a lorry mounted mewp and a pair of loppers!
