FWIW my mate went from a double cab 130 tipper to a dyna and hasn't looked back.

Except the handling of an empty dyna on icy roads! He's looking at buying a second.

 

The 3.0L diesel version and low gearing is quite pokey as i remember (from a past firm) and turning circle amazing, especially compared to a 130!

It's costing a lot in repairs, as good as it is I am looking at other solutions, I think I will keep the Landy and get a transit or dyna to run alongside and spread the usage.

 

 

Out of interest what is it that is costing a lot, given that everything is fairly easily replaced on a Landy and once that part is replaced tis good as new anyway- i find repairs always come in multipals anyway with Landys, you repair loads of stuff and think is it all worth it but then it does another few years of good hard graft with barely any repairs and your back to loving it again!

 

I agree with Monkey- a big repair/replacement like the chassis is got to be thought of as a long term investment- and thus you'll keep the Landy running for years- nothing stays newish for long but as long as it easily fixable (like a Landy) then its no big deal

Landys are cheap to fix but they tend to go rong a lot more than anything else it's not always the gearbox etc mine has a lot of nigerlin stuff at the moment and in the newer ones the diffs seem realy weak mine and my mates has gone my shogun worked the same and only ever had a wheel bearing go it in 5 years I want a tipper to replace landy if I could with a 4x4 tipper
