Woodburner with oven?

A barrow of logs through our 60 kW Thermimator heats a 4000 ltr thermal buffer tank and fully heats a seven bed house. Just goes to show how efficient a modern biomass boiler is these days. We used more logs in a large stove that did one room previously. The biomass boiler only does hot water and rads though and doesn’t do the cooking!

We got a Necter , Bakers Oven for my mum . It’s basic, looks ok and is reasonably priced - she really likes it and it serves as a good space heater , top plate and oven. I think they are Australian and when we first bought it 6 years ago a water jacket wasn’t available in the uk as it didn’t have a ce mark but it might be now.

I just bought a Esse Ironheart. Not gonna install it for a few months but looking forward to running it when I do. Does get some mixed reviews but on the whole they seem to be positive.

Really looking forward to getting it installed and fired up. The Rayburn currently installed is always on tick-over so the kitchen is not freezing, but not far off it.  Will be nice to get a bigger hot water tank installed as well as a Water Booster pump so we can ditch the electric showers and have some real water pressure when showering instead of dancing under the shower head trying to catch the luke warm drizzle. Next Winter will be much cosier.

An interesting review of the Esse Ironheart after 10 years of usage by this American Stove retailer.

Im in the market for dry cooker to replace a Rayburn which is too slow to warm up

Mine is a La Nordica. Won't stay in overnight but does all heating, hot water and cooking in a draughty 6 bed farmhouse. I like it, would have another and other than not staying in overnight I can't think of any down sides. Can't say I am desperate for it to stay in overnight anyway.

Since this post I have sold my draughty 6 bed farmhouse bought and did up what is now not draughty 3 bed farmhouse.

House was completely gutted and I did buy another La Nordica which does heating, DHW and cooking. Also have oil plumbed into the same system but that doesn't get a lot of use, just use it for hot water when we don't want to light the fire in summer.

When the fire is lit we do pretty much all the cooking on it or in it and the house is roasting with endless hot water. Very pleased with it and will do the same again next time I move (planning on doing out a bungalow to see me into old age if I make it.)
