Doing a couple of days unpaid would be good

I just can't get my head around the whole "work unpaid to show how good you are"

I've had many many blokes brashratting etc for me over the years, I would never ask anyone to work for no pay, and I'm a capitalist pig.

It's not marine biology or an internship at The Whitehouse, it's dragging and chipping.

50 quid in your hand maybe but unpaid?

I've offered to work unpaid to get a chance to work with people in an industry I have no qualifications and limited experience of.

If I was in the position of someone offering to work for me for nothing of take them up on it, and bung them what I thought they were worth at the end of the day.

Where are you based? I started like you and now I like to give people a chance, A couple of teams gave me a chance and a start in the industry a few years ago and ive not looked back or forgotten those who gave me that chance.

In my mind any good employer wont expect you to work for nowt, you might not earn top money till you have shown your worth but to work for nowt is just taking the pi** out of some one and makes for a demoralised bloke that never shows his best

Good Luck find your chance to get a start:001_smile:

I got my first job working in a garage by volunteering to do anything,1st week unpaid after that employer gave wot he thought id earned. Its not about being paid or unpaid its about showing an prospective employer that your willing to do wotever it takes to get the work.

If you offer to work for nothing, you will give the impression that you think that is the value of what you have to offer.

If you offer to work for nothing for one day it shows you have the balls to show an employer that your not just looking to get paid. Some guys genuinly want to learn, thats the point some of u guys are missing.Lets be honest here a half decent employer would slip you a couple of quid at the end of the shift anyway,bt i dont think doin 1 day unpaid work to get future work js a bad thing

Obviously I can't speak for you but personally the only reason I do go to work is to get paid. I'm not a charity.Any work done has a value. I wouldn't have expected to be paid when I first started out what I charge now but working for free is foolish. :001_smile:

so what's a good rate for a day for someone with very little experience and, say C30/31 as the only ticket?

Surely one day voluntary as a trial to show ability? Although there was someone on here looking for a day dragging brash etc offering £70 with no tickets.
