Can't go wrong with a stihl 170. They are cheap so if it rolls down a bank in to a water filled ditch it's not the end of the world. Keep it sharp and it'll cut through most things. But have a bigger saw on site aswell for any bigger trees. That's what I used to do

So you bought a MS181 - standard bar & chain ? or did you go for the 1/4" rollamatic mini ?

Yes I did and already thinking I have made a mistake. It's a gutless and pig to start. Not used a small saw in years so maybe just needs getting used to and a few more tanks of fuel. Guess it's a standard bar and chain. Didn't spec anything special.

Wanting a small chainsaw for hedgelaying with the season fast approaching. Looking for something neat and nimble with a short bar. It's not going to be used to death just part time use over the winters. Only saw I have seen so far is a baby stihl, think it was a 170/171. Not fussy about brand.

Thanks

Not a bad saw for real thick hedges you may need more poke husky 435 550xp or on of the smaller echos are good
