How do you get a saw to run on choke for 60secs ?

Stihl put a big ole hole in the choke plate and have done away with the fast idle setting unless on full choke - it basically makes it more simple and therefore doesn't work as well as it should as if you try to start it when warm, full choke can flood it but the normal run position can be a bit hit and miss.....we will call this Progression through technology!

Ok . Thanks Steve . Being a " dark side " man I did not know this . :001_smile:

Unlike standard carburettor equipment all M-tronic machines will run on the choke setting, this is used to calibrate the ignition/control unit to the carburettor. This can be tried in the machine appears to run out of tune, loose top end speed or tickover before replacing the fuel solenoid.

Is this the " M tronic " that Husqvarna sold to Stihl or have things moved on from then . I have 2 A/T Husqvarnas and thy wont run on choke . To set the A/T on them you have to cut full length of bar for a few cuts.

Wot a  bag of shite - M tronic ? Who comes up with this nonsense ? Wot on earth was wrong with H & L an tickover :( K

It is a double edged sword, it can keep a machine running if it has a small air leak and may stop it seizing and will constantly analyse how the saw is running and give you optimal performance even with dirty air filters.

These are the good things and you can look at how reliable cars are now with their electronics.

On the bad side, the equipment manufacturers like to stop independents using their diagnostic kit forcing the general public toward the equipment dealer/agent as the car manufacturers did until the powers that be forced them to put OBD2 ports in the cars allowing non dealer agents and the initiated general public to diagnose car faults. It appears that only main dealers understand these complex machines:sneaky2:

For those not initiated - OBD2 and a suitable smart phone app allows you to diagnose car dash warning lights!

Yes Spud an the end-up of all this over-engineering was/is felt by Volkswagen telling us how "clean" their cars are / were ;)  I feel a well maintained saw will run on fr years without this nonsense ( mine did ! ) and the unit cost is bourn by us the purchaser. Who by most measure-ain't an idiot. Ahhh Echo , K
