  1. Unlike standard carburettor equipment all M-tronic machines will run on the choke setting, this is used to calibrate the ignition/control unit to the carburettor. This can be tried in the machine appears to run out of tune, loose top end speed or tickover before replacing the fuel solenoid.
  2. Problems with running/starting and especially dying at tickover on all M-tronic saws usually points to the fuel solenoid on the side of the carburettor (approx £20.00). Always worth trying before replacing a complete carburettor. Also always do a re-set by running on choke for 60 seconds and then turn off before using. If in doubt refer to a dealer.
  3. Stihl MS261 sprocket problems should now be a thing of the past, new rim sprockets were introduced late 2016 and no problems since, unless the crank was worn by the previous sprocket.
