If its a big spreading deadwood of prune then i will work on the way up with the wrench , do everything suitable , get to my anchor and then redirect my access line and send my system down it for further work later on. I usually do a section or two ddrt after and then switch back over and work the last part srt ........ it cuts out a lot of up and downing , makes life alot easier as long as you can plan your routes efficiently. ..... not for every tree but I'm doing it as much as possible.

I brought a rope wrench, had a couple of climbs at weekends and can see a lot of advantages, although there are disadvantages as well.

 

For me at the moment fully Drt with hitch climber & vt, will keep trying SRT and see if I can get the hang of it
