When I look at the pics on here and other forums I see many guys like me just use ordinary ground helmets up trees, is this officially allowed?

The HSE says the helmet should have impact protection, what you are using probably isn't up to code.

It specifies "side impact" which a climbing lid offers, as opposed to only impact from above, which is what a ground lid is designed for.

A hapless moronic groundie nearly bought it a few weeks ago when he wandered into the drop zone. It was a lapse of concentration on his behalf ,this is a lad that has also been warned about not wearing his PPE. He was certainly grateful for his lid this day and now strangely wears his hat at all times.

Anyway can we glue this one together?
