Are you asking me or the original poster?

Mines 36". I'm planning to grind off every 3rd cutter as this saw only comes out when I need to use every one of those inches.

Hi SKC I do find a stander 660 have the power to run 36" that pull great my 660 runs a 25)30 max I think if you run 3ft you need a 880 SKC thanks Jon

Yup, mines 36" too & yes chain is sharp. As stated, I reckon I was expecting too much from a new saw.

I disagree Jon.

When run in & with a nice sharp chain a 66 will happily run with a 36" bar. If you wanted to run it cross cutting all day, everyday then the 88 will certainly last longer, although the fuel bill might be a little steep.

Jon, trees like this come up maybe once every 6 months so I just cant justify the cost of an 880 hence the skip tooth method to reduce horsepower required and givw the old girl a chance

Hi SKY your right re 880 im getting one ported by STEVE ON HERE pull like a train then I'm told thanks Jon

I think you maybe misreading some of the replies here. Some of the guys were talking of skip chain, yet the above reply leads me to think you're not familiar with this chain?

As Pete says, a 660 is capable of running a 3 foot bar, but I've found the skip helps dramatically with preventing the saw bogging.

As for the comments about 880's, very overrated IMO!

You're quite right, I had no clue re skip chains. Just been looking it up elsewhere & makes interesting reading so thanks.
